| Episode Summary |
| Shohoku High School is suddenly disturbed by the arrival of menacing punks riding on motorcycles. Some of the boys approach Yohei and Sakuragi (whose mind is still on basketball) and ask them if they knew anything about the new arrivals, but Yohei reveals that they didn't know them and hadn't gotten into any fights. However, it is poor Noma who ends up getting the attention of Tetsuo, who begins to ask the Gundan member where the gym is. With his sarcastic comments and refusal to point where the gym is, Noma is beaten up. However, Mitsui, Hotta and co. show up, and Mitsui knows where the gym is, offering to lead the way. Unaware of the trouble coming their way, Sakuragi is dribbling when the ball is suddenly stolen from him by Ryota. Ryota then explains to our hero that he should learn the fine art of performing a fake, saying how important it is to mislead your opponent in order to get pass his guard and score points. Everyone in the team grimaces at Sakuragi's overacting display of exuberance at being taught such a trivial thing. Still, Kogure and Ayako are happy that they have become good friends. Yohei and Haruko are also happy with Sakuragi's new found "hobby". But then, as Yohei leaves the gym, he runs into Mitsui and his gang. Demanding to know why they were going to the gym, Yohei gets punched by Tetsuo, but still he holds his ground. He is forced to leave when Hotta's friends lead him away. Since Akagi is still in Physics class, something which shocks Sakuragi, Ryota and Rukawa, the team are about to start practice, when Mitsui and co. enter the gym, shocking Haruko and her friends who end up slinking to the side in fear. Knowing that they have come for him, Ryota begs Mitsui not to involve the basketball team and that they should leave. To show his disrespect to this sacred hall, Tetsuo lets the ashes of his cigarette fall on the polished floor, raising Sakuragi's ire. As Ryota again tells him to leave, Mitsui hands the ball to Tetsuo, who grinds the cigarette on the ball, and says that he will destroy everything in the gym. Suddenly, a ball nearly hits Mitsui, but strikes Hotta behind him. The ball was thrown by a calm-looking, but still very angry Rukawa. Meanwhile, Yohei successfully beats up Hotta's gang, and before he is hit from behind with a shovel, the punk is downed by Noma, Ohkusu and Anozumi. Back at the gym, Mitsui is pleased to see that both Sakuragi and Rukawa are raring to fight, but Ryota begs them not to, that Mitsui kicks the ball into his gut. Ayako tells them desperately to stop, but Mitsui orders Ryo to take care of Rukawa. Again, Ryota pleads with Mitsui that they should leave. However, his entreaties are met with a fierce grabs on his head by Hotta, holding him in place, and a hard head butt and punch from Mitsui that results in his bleeding from his nose and mouth. At this point, they learn the truth why Ryota is so meek. Mitsui plans to incite a brawl in the gym that would lead to Team Shohoku's being banned from joining the Tournament and worse, the basketball club disbanded. All are shocked at this revelation. Tetsuo hands Mitsui a mop and suggests that he should hit Ryota with the metal end. Before he could do so, however, Sakuragi snatches the mop out of his hand, while Rukawa grabs Hotta's wrist. Furious, Sakuragi breaks the mop in two. Sakuragi orders them to clean up the floor, while Rukawa tells them to clean up the ball as well. To show his disdain, Mitsui spits on the ash-dirtied ball. Sakuragi charges to beat up the punks. Not wanting any trouble, Yasuda wraps his arm around our hero's waist. Sakuragi would have broken free if Haruko hadn't begged him to stop. Yasuda now steps forward as well and pleads on behalf of his team for Mitsui and his gang to leave. Despite this, the poor boy is punched as well, drawing blood. Suddenly, Mitsui is almost hit on the face with a basketball, the ash and spittle coming off on his palm. He is approached by Rukawa, who is glaring menacingly. In his cold manner, Rukawa declares that what they're doing is "Unforgivable!" |
