Episode Summary
Only few minutes to go before the much awaited battle between Shohoku and Kainan. Both teams were on their respective lockers and having some sort of a meeting. Coach Takatoh of Kainan appeared on the scene walking towards the Kainan's locker room. He was really surprised that Shohoku made it to the final four because he was expecting that Shoyo would be the greatest challenger of his team. So he's pretty confident that they would be able to defend their title once again for he believed that Shohoku was no match compared to Kainan. As he opened the door of the room, he was stunned to see that Maki was sitting on a bench looking so intense. One thing he likes about this playmaker is that he always thirsts for victory. Meanwhile, in Shohoku's locker room, Akagi was having a serious conversation with his team. He was telling his teammates that based on basketball records, they were no match compared to Kainan team. But that should not stop them from achieving their ultimate goal -- to enter the Inter High Tournament. That was the Biggest dream of Akagi, to meet Kainan on a match and be the number one team in Japan. The much anticipated moment has come. Both teams arrived on court on time. (By the way, some members of Miuradai and Shoyo were there to see the match) As both teams were preparing for the fight (warming up), naughty Nobunaga approached Shohoku to boast. He remarked that this year would be the best game for Kainan because the number one rookie was finally here. (He's talking about himself of course) So our hero, Sakuragi got irritated. (He finally met his match!) But Nobunaga was unstoppable. To annoy Sakuragi more, he stole the ball from the hands of Hanamichi and started to show off. The audience was fascinated by Nobunaga's very good ball hadling skills. But the show ended when another ball rolled on the floor colliding Kiyota's ball. Both Kiyota and Hanamichi were annoyed when they found out that it was Rukawa who did it on purpose. All of a sudden, the two captain approached the two monkeys and gave them a punch on their heads. (Ouch!) The game began. Akagi and Maki matched for the jump ball. Ryota got the ball and made a fastbreak. He passed the ball to Rukawa and the latter tried to make a dunk but Maki was there to block him so he decided to passed the ball at his back (to Mitsui) but it was stolen by Jin. Jin passed the ball to Kiyota but our hero, Sakuragi ran fast then jumped and successfully reached the ball with his hands. But unfortunately he was charged of travelling. Sakuragi felt very disappointed but Akagi told him that it was just alright. And as expected, Sakuragi regained his spirit as he prepared himself for the continuation of the ultimate showdown.

Coach Takatoh was too presumptious when he said that Shohoku was no match compared to Kainan. Don't be too sure about yourself Takatoh!
