Battle Of The Rookies (Author - Rukawa)

Shohoku, preparing for the winter season, were looking for some freshman to increase the team's strength. Ryota was still playing as the guard, Rukawa as small forward, hanamichi as the power forward and Mitsui as the centre. Akagi and Kogure have dropped out of the team and so Rukawa and Hanamichi would have to cope with the absence of the gori centre and mr.gles.

Ryota was chosen as captian and Mitsui as the vice. The team was motivated and many of the squad member's were trying to fit into the role of the shooting guard.

Threehman were enrolled into the team and they were:

Senki Mado - 171(Forward)
played centre in his junior high days

Fuji Jin -183(Centre)
Character quite the same like Kogure

Hasashi Jin - 191(Shooting Gurad)
Three poniter shooter, character like Hanamichi

Jin was the most outstanding player among the freshman. He shot crazy 3 pointers from half court and his talent in shooting amazed Mitsui and both of them decided to have a competion.

Mitsui was asked to start first because he was more senior to Jin. He took the three pointer and it went in although Jin was making funny faces in front of the basket and tried to do pull up on the ring.

Jin took the shot and to everyone's amazement it was totally silent and even the net did not make a sound.

After 30 shots , the champion could not be decided so Jin was decided to replace Mitsui as the shooting guard.

As for the other two rookies, Hanamichi and Rukawa decided to challenge them 2 on two. The second year against the first year.

Although the two senoirs were taller compared by height, their jumping ability was on par with the two rookies.

As the game started the two rookies tried to use their body size to get past Hanamichi but Hanamichi was too big for them to past.

After 10 minutes , Hanamichi and Rukawa was leading 10-0. It looked more like a Rukawa vs Hanamichi. Both of the rivals tried to be the better one of the team.

Suddenly, tall Jin jumped in and caught hold of the ball and he said: Hey Monkey! Why don't i join in, don't bully the two freshman. I am tensai!

Hanamichi gave him a headbutt and both of them had buns on their head, Hanamichi said: Hey Monkey!! What is your head made of, why is it so hard

Jin replied: I don' know about mine but yours is made from iron.

Hanamichi gave Jin a pat on his back and said: You remind me of myself, u are my friend. If that fox dare to bully you just fight him, I will support you.

Both went back to game and Senki suddenly got a rebound and gave it to Jin who made a three pointer.

The score was 10 - 3 and not long after it was pulled higher to 15 - 12.

It ended 15 - 15 , all points from the Juniors came from Jin.

It was a hopeful season for Shohoku
